Southwest Missouri Council of Governments Helps Secure $2.2 Million EDA Grant
Jason Ray, executive director of the Southwest Missouri Council of Governments, assisted with the announcement of a $2.2 million EDA investment in Cox Nursing College, that will help insure access to healthcare in southwest Missouri.
"The collaborative efforts of local leaders will allow for new healthcare opportunities throughout southwest Missouri," said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. "The expanded Cox College nursing school will help local workers gain the skills health care providers look for in a modern workforce."

Citizen's Guide to Transportation Funding in Missouri
MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna met with the MACOG board of directors at their February 2 meeting in Jefferson City and presented the newly published Citizen's Guide to Transportation Funding in Missouri.

Washington Policy Conference

The Missouri Association of Councils of Governments was represented at the National Association of Development Organizations Washington Policy Conference April 4-6 and took time to meet with representatives from Missouri's Congressional delegation.

Grant Announcement
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, has announced that the grant rounds for the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) are now open. LWCF grants are available to cities, counties and school districts to be used for outdoor recreation projects. RTP grants fund trail-related projects and are available to local and state governments, school districts, for-profit and non-profit organizations, and businesses. Gov. Nixon announces $1.2 million to help communities statewide plan for, respond to disasters

Funding will identify key infrastructure and resources to help mitigate disasters, strengthen coordination of regional disaster response assets during emergencies, and bolster long-term recovery

Gov.  Jay Nixon today announced the Missouri Association of Councils of Government has been awarded $1.2 million to fund three projects that will help Missouri communities respond to disasters. The funding through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will strengthen regional coordination and response asset sharing, identify key infrastructure and resources to mitigate disasters before they strike, and bolster long-term recovery planning...(read more)

Missouri Regional Planning Commissions' honored with 2015 NADO Innovation Awards in New Orleans

T.R. Dudley, chairman of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission, St. James, and mayor of Potosi, MO, attended the Annual NADO Training Conference in New Orleans in October to accept MRPC's Innovation Award. MRPC, along with Boonslick Regional Planning Commission and Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission, were recognized for their mobility management planning efforts. In all three regions, transit planning efforts had identified the need for improved and expanded transit options, and the three RPCs conducted additional planning work, primarily to determine the feasibility of developing mobility management systems that would coordinate and promote existing transit services, look for increased service opportunities, simplify access and improve customer satisfaction. The planning work has lead to the development of staffed, mobility management programs in all three regions...(read more)
